Welcome to my maths and english tutoring page. I am a private tutor with experience of teaching maths in secondary schools. I tutor maths for students of different skill levels, from KS1 to GCSE. In addition, I am a primary english tutor with a clean DBS record. I cover a 15-mile radius around my Scunthorpe base, which includes Messingham, Brigg, Winterton, Scotter and all points in between.
Online lessons via Google Meets are also available.
I have high expectations of all the students I teach and encourage them to reach their full potential. I believe students should be able to take control of their own learning by expressing their own ideas and suggestions. Using various teaching styles and effective assessment techniques, I can determine the best learning path for the student.
Tuition includes:
- A one hour long lesson held on any day of the week except Sunday. Lessons are designed to build on confidence and ability with mathematics.
- Formative and summative assessments carried out during and at regular intervals during a tuition period to identify strengths and weaknesses.
- Parents receive verbal feedback after every lesson. Emailed feedback can also be provided.
- Homework is optional. I believe students have enough homework given to them from the schools they attend without overburdening them further. Maths topics are consistently revisted to reinforce the knowledge gained through previous lessons.
Prices:
- Primary English - £20/hr
- Primary Mathematics - £20/hr
- GCSE Mathematics - £20/hr
I can travel to you within a 15 mile radius. Places outside of Scunthorpe like Kirton Lindsey, Brigg or Winterton are £25/hr. Larger distances may require an additional transport cost.
Availability
Currently, I have no availability for tuition. All after school slots are taken.
All times are flexible depending on location. Green slots are free. I am also available at certain times in the day. Please contact me for more details.

Terms and conditions
Fees:
- The fees are payable direct to myself at the end of a lesson in cash or via bank transfer.
- Any out-of session time involving lesson preparation, marking etc is included within the fee.
Cancellations:
- If you need to cancel a lesson please provide 24hrs notice. If you decide to stop lessons completely then I request you give at least 1 weeks notice of a permanent cancellation.
